FAQs
1. Is the film in original colour?
Yes, the colour film is entirely original. It has not been coloured artificially.
2. From where has the film been sourced?
From the Prelinger Archive (USA) and the East Anglian Film Archive (UK).
The U.S. Government commissioned the First Motion Picture Unit to make films for the war effort. Combat Camera Units flew with the Air Force, filming bombing raids and dogfights for training and recruitment purposes.
Much of the film we have used is personal, taken by airmen with their own cameras.
3. Does this cover the war against Japan?
The war against Japan deserves a whole documentary to itself.
On Eagles’ Wings focuses on the air war against Hitler’s
forces in Europe.
4. I live in the USA/Europe. Can I pay in a currency other than £ sterling?
Yes. Our on-line shop takes payments in US Dollars and Euros. However, prices are set in £ Sterling, so the dollar price we quote is for guidance only and will vary with the exchange rate. Don’t worry – you can check how much it will be in Dollars before you purchase. Just click on the US/EU flags.
5. I live in America. Do you take US Cheques?
If you make your cheque out in Pounds Sterling then we can accept it, but be advised that your bank may charge you for this. We would advise you pay by credit or debit card.
6. Will the DVD work on a player in the USA?
Yes. Select the copy that has “USA” next to it in brackets using the on-line shop.
The DVDs are region free, but the following guidelines apply:
i) DVDs used in North America (USA) Canada and Japan play on NTSC equipment. To select this, just click on the copy that has “USA” next to it.
ii) DVDs marked “USA” can also play on some UK and Australian multi-region DVD players providing your TV set is less than 6 years old.
iii) The version marked “UK” is PAL and plays only in the
UK and Australia.
7. Is your shop secure?
Yes. The main site is on standard server, but when you click ‘Buy Online’ you are redirected to a secure server using SSL bit technology. All transactions are encrypted. Card payments are taken through a payment gateway provided by HSBC.
8. How long will it take to arrive?
Orders are normally dispatched within 48 hours. They are sent 1st Class (UK) and Airmail (USA). Airmail takes approximately 7 days.
9. This is a gift for someone. Will you let me know when you have sent it?
Yes. When you purchase on-line, you will receive an automatic email confirming your order. This will contain a unique reference number for your records. You can then assume it will be dispatched within 48 hours. If there is a problem or a query with the order, we will contact you.
10. I have some old colour film from WW2. Are you interested?
Yes. Send us an email with more details. You may wish to consider donating a copy to your local film archive so that it may be preserved properly.
11. Do you stock any other DVDs like this?

12. Will you keep me informed on your new productions?
Yes. We offer our existing customers an advanced copy (at a discounted price) before releasing a new DVD.
We will not pass your details to a 3rd Party, and will only phone you if there is a query over your order.
